Pellets for pregnant and lactating mares

With Pavo Podo® Lac Pellets, you will provide the fetus and suckling foal with all the important nutrients. Mare's milk naturally contains very little copper and zinc; however, these are necessary, among other nutrients, for the proper development of bones, organs, coat, and digestive function. This is why it is so important to increase the amount of copper in the last three months of gestation, so that the fetus can accumulate a reserve in the liver through the umbilical cord. In the first three months of life, this reserve becomes available, and the foal can use it for healthy development. Pavo Podo® Lac Pellets contains all the important nutrients for the fetus and suckling foal and can be given from the last three months of gestation until weaning, inclusive.

Pavo Podo® Lac Pellets was specially developed to stimulate and support milk production in mares. However, some mares produce so much milk that they end up losing weight, while the foals become excessively fat. If your mare is losing weight during lactation, you can replace Pavo Podo® Lac Pellets with Pavo Performance starting 6-8 weeks after foaling. This feed provides a high amount of energy to the mare while reducing milk production, allowing her to regain her body condition.
